Mens Pennants Round 4

Published on 21st April 2021 in Uncategorized

Another week of mixed results for our Men’s Pennants this week which leaves some teams desperately needing wins to keep their season alive.  On a brighter note our Division 2 boys picked up a vital win in what was a must win match against Sea View whilst our Division 6 boys won their fourth match in a row to continue their perfect start to the season.

Our division 2 boys got their season up and running in style at the Vines with a 6-1 win over Sea View but with several matches going down to the wire it was the way in which our boys held their nerve which got us over the line. Adam Baille, Ally Bell and Tarquin McMannus all won their matches on the final hole. Gagan Dhaliwal and Matt Nelson both also picked up wins while Daz McLoughlin continued his perfect season with his fourth straight win.

All teams have a week off before Division 2 play Hartfield at Sea View next weekend.

Division 4 travelled to Joondalup to play Joondalup. It was an important match for the boys as a win would have given them a slim hope of making finals. It was a strong effort from the lads with every game going to the final few holes but unfortunately they couldn’t quite get over the line- losing 2-5. Matt Gooch and Matt McLaughlin picked up wins.

The boys play The Vines at Wanneroo next weekend. They sit one spot above us on the ladder so it’s a great opportunity to get the first win on the board.

Division 6 continued their perfect start to the season with a narrow win over Joondalup. Joondalup have been struggling this season but had home ground advantage in this match so it was an impressive 4-3 win. Ben Hawkins, Peter Matta, Scott Brisley and Biff Brody picked up our wins to keep us on top of the ladder. Well done boys!

The lads face a winless Sun City at Wanneroo which is a fantastic opportunity to start the season with 5 straight wins.

Division 7 faced an unbeaten Sun City at Wanneroo which was always going to be a tough task. The boys fought well all day and looked at one point like they were going to get something from the game. In the end Sun City were too strong for us as we went down 2.5-4.5. Glenn Hollows and Martin West picked up wins while Rod Brown halved his match.

A win against The Vines next week at Lake Karrinyup would put us firmly back in the mix.

Division 8 had a tough day at Wanneroo against a strong Lake Karrinyup side, going down 5.5-1.5. Marty Foster picked up an impressive 5&4 victory while Robert Taylor halved his match.

The boys travel to The Vines to play Chequers next weekend in what is pretty much a must win match if they want to be involved in the pointy end of the season.
