Mens Pennants Season Recap

The final round of Mens Pennants took place over the weekend bring to an end the 2021 Mens Pennants Season.

The club would like to thank all players and volunteers involved with this Mens Pennants season. The season overall has been a little disappointing with the majority of teams finishing in the bottom halves of their respective ladders. The effort and application of our players can’t be faulted and it is reflected in the improvement in results in the second half of the season.

Our division 2 team were competitive for most of the season. Although the season ended with a whimper, going down 0/7 to The Vines, they did the hard work earlier in the season and eventually got the wins they needed to avoid relegation. Daz McLoughlin was unbeaten until the last match of the season whilst Adam Baillie and Matt Nelson also had impressive seasons. The boys ended up 6th on the ladder and will get the chance to push up the ladder next season.

Division 4 saved their best until the last match of the season, defeating Wanneroo 6/1 to avoid finishing on the bottom of the ladder. It was good to see the hard work rewarded with two wins in the final three rounds of the season. Trevor Beazley and Matt McLoughlin had strong seasons recording 3 wins each for the season, they also won two games each in division 6 before moving to division 4.

After an outstanding unbeaten run to start the year, our division 6 team narrowly missed out on making the final on the final round of the season. After four straight wins to start and impressive season on the whole the boys can feel aggrieved to narrowly miss out on top spot. None the less they have had a great season and can be proud of their achievements. Biff Brody, Ben Hawkins and Darryl Hawkey enjoyed strong seasons with 4 wins each.

Division 7 finished the season halving their match against a strong WA Golf Club. WA Golf Club needed the win to finish top so it was an impressive result and performance by the lads. It was also enough to avoid finishing bottom of the ladder. Martin West had a strong season with 4 wins, as did Matt Clune who had 3 wins and a half including a 9&8 win in round 2.

Division 8 were another side who finished strongly, defeating Mosman Park, who were chasing top spot, 4.5/2.5. The losses to Wanneroo and Sun City, both tightly fought contests that could have gone either way, stalled their season after a great win to start. Credit to the boys for bouncing back from 3 consecutive losses in the middle of the season to finish with a respectable 3 wins for the season. Elliot Reid won 4 out of his 5 games for the season whilst Shaun Tamehana had 5 wins for the season.
